The plan has been announced by housing minister Brandon Lewis in an attempt to resolve a “decades-old deficit”. Although such arbitrary targets have historically not been achieved, FIM believe that this announcement provides further evidence of government support for the construction sector, which can only be positive for UK timber demand.
